Presentation Title: Your product may be worthless, and other uncomfortable truths about software development

Track: Advancing Agility

Presentation Time: 11:00am
Duration: 60 minutes

Agile development values frequent delivery of working software and emphasizes prioritizing our work using business value. However, we often fail to consider that value is purely speculative. Software we're reasonably confident in seems like investment in a mutual fund; other software seems like buying a lottery ticket.

In this talk Jeff describes a flavor of agile where we acknowledge the uncertainty of business value, and adopt practices that allow us to learn faster if software investment really is a good one. The result is an agile process that puts higher value on early customer and user understanding, continuous learning during development, and close observation of the outcome after delivery. You'll leave with a useful list of concepts and practices to apply to your agile process.
