Presentation Title: Introduction to Agile Estimation and Planning
Track: Learning Agility
Presentation Time: 11:00am
Duration: 60 minutes
Projects, especially software projects, are inherently difficult to plan. Most of the traditional methods of trying to estimate how long projects will take tend to fall short, while the projects themselves run long. Agile methodologies provide a new way to look at project planning, greatly increasing a project's chances to succeed. In this talk, we will investigate how agile planning is different, and look into the practices that make it so successful.
• Traditional methods - how did we get this way?
• Agile Estimation -
o Simplicity of size estimation rather than time
o Mechanisms of estimation
o Task estimation - how it is different from stories
• Velocity, the link between estimation and planning
• Product Planning and Vision
• Agile Release Planning
• Agile Iteration Planning
• Daily planning
• A brief discussion on What is Done?
• So what do we track, and what is success?
