Presentation Title: A Brief Intro to Agile Planning

Track: Learning Agility

Presentation Time: 11:00am
Duration: 90 minutes

Based on flawed assumptions about change and uncertainty, traditional planning methods have proven over time to be ineffective - resulting in unsuccessful projects being the accepted standard (see any Standish Group CHAOS report, or your company's track record). Agile introduces new principles on which to base successful product delivery, and correct mistaken assumptions of the past. This talk will explore how planning is fundamentally different on agile projects, and briefly introduce concepts and practices of agile planning such as:

* A revealing look at why traditional project plans actually cause project failure
* Estimation on agile projects - the simplicity of size * the magic of velocity = the derivation of duration
* The five levels of agile planning
* Practice: The ever present concept of shared vision
* Visioning
* Road Mapping
* Agile release planning
* Practice: Story mapping workshop - enabling the release plan
* Practice: Facilitated release planning workshop - scaling release planning
* Agile iteration planning
* Daily planning
